Repeat a task

GuideUpdated

On this page

Some work comes back: a weekly report, a monthly invoice run, a yearly check. Give such a task a repeat rule. When you finish it, Kanroo brings it back with the next due date.

A repeating task needs two things:

  • a due date on the task, and
  • a done list on the board.
The Repeat options of a task due on Oct 16

Steps

  1. Open the task and set a Due date (box 1).
  2. Open Repeat (box 2) and pick a rule: weekly at the start or the end of the week, every 2 weeks, monthly on the same day, monthly at the end of the month, or yearly.
  3. Choose Custom for anything else: every 1 to 99 days, weeks, months, or years.
  4. Work on the task as usual. When it is finished, move it to the done list.

What happens next

After the due day has passed, Kanroo returns the finished task to work, usually within a minute:

  • it gets the next due date of the rule,
  • it moves to the top of the first list of the board,
  • every checklist item is unchecked again.

A task that is due today stays in the done list until tomorrow. If you missed several periods, the task jumps straight to the next date that is not in the past.

Tips

  • “Monthly on the 31st” falls on the last day of shorter months. A rule set on the last day of a month always stays on the last day.
  • Changing the due date also moves the start of the rule. Clearing the due date removes the rule.
  • “Today” follows the time zone of your organization, set in Organization settings › Organization.
  • A rule has no end date. Set Repeat back to Never to stop it.
  • Duplicating a task does not copy its rule.
