From Trello

Move a Trello board in a few steps.

Export the board from Trello as JSON and upload the file, as the import guide shows. Kanroo needs no Trello account, no token and no connection, so it works the same on Kanroo Cloud and on your own server.

How to import a Trello board

  1. 1Export from Trello. In Trello, open the board menu and export the board as JSON.
  2. 2Open the import. In Kanroo, open Boards and choose Import, or press ShiftI.
  3. 3Upload the file. Choose Trello JSON as the source and upload the file.
  4. 4Check the preview. Kanroo shows what it will create and warns about anything it skips.
  5. 5Create the board. Confirm, and Kanroo creates the board with its lists, tasks, labels and checklists.

From any CSV

Any tool that exports CSV can move to Kanroo.

Kanroo reads the header row and suggests a field for each column. You check the mapping, with sample values from your file, before anything happens.

  • Six fields

    Title, list, description, labels, priority and due date. Only the title is required.

  • Common words understood

    Priorities such as P1, critical or minor, and dates in ISO format. Unknown values give a warning, not an error.

  • Preview, then import

    Check counts and warnings first. The import then runs as one unit: all of it, or nothing.

Up to 5,000 rows and 10 MiB per file. Comments, checklists, attachments and assignees are not part of a CSV import.

Tested with CSV files shaped like exports from Jira, Asana, GitHub Projects and monday.com. Columns you do not map are skipped.

Export

Export everything you can see, at any time.

Every person who can view a board or a space can export it. No plan limits exports, and nothing waits for a support ticket.

  • Boards as JSON

    Lists, tasks, archived tasks, comments, checklists, assignees and attachment links. Kanroo can import the file again, without comments, assignees, attachments, WIP limits and the done list.

  • Boards as CSV

    One row per task. The columns can be imported again, into Kanroo or another tool. Kanroo’s CSV import leaves out comments, checklists, assignees and attachments.

  • Wiki as Markdown

    One page, a page with its subpages, or a whole space, as a ZIP of Markdown files with their attachments.

Up to 5,000 tasks per board export. Owners and admins can also export the audit log as CSV.

Your exit

Leave whenever you want.

We would rather keep you with a good product than with locked data. So the exit is part of the product.

  • Run it yourself

    The core is open source under AGPL-3.0. Import your Kanroo JSON export into your own server, without plan limits. Comments, assignees, attachments, WIP limits and the done list do not come along.

  • Delete your account

    Self-service and immediate. You confirm with a code sent by email. Organizations where you are the only member are deleted with it.

  • No data held back

    A move to a lower plan keeps your boards, tasks, files and pages. See plans and limits.

After a move to a lower plan, the old limits stay for 7 days. Only audit log entries and wiki versions above the new limits are removed.
