More on Kanroo:Where Kanroo hosts your dataThe open-source core and the editions

Where Kanroo is different

  1. A wiki, built in

Spaces and nested Markdown pages with Mermaid diagrams, version history and password-protected shares, linked to your tasks. Kaneo states that it does not include documents.

  2. A free plan, not a trial

Kanroo Free has every feature for one person, with no time limit. Kaneo Cloud starts with a 14-day trial.

  3. European sub-processors only

Kanroo Cloud uses netcup and Scaleway. Kaneo Cloud also runs on EU servers, and its list includes the US providers Cloudflare, Amazon SES and Sentry.

When Kaneo is the better choice

  • You want the MIT license for everything, with no commercial edition.
  • You self-host and need SSO at no cost. Self-hosted Kaneo includes it.
  • You need Gantt, subtasks, dependencies, custom fields, time tracking or Git sync.
  • You want a lower cloud price: Kaneo Cloud Team costs $50 per user a year.
  • You move from Linear, Jira, Plane or PLANKA and want a direct importer.

Missing something in Kanroo? It may come with community interest.

Moving from Kaneo

Kanroo has no Kaneo importer and does not read Kaneo’s export format. Move tasks through a CSV file with column mapping. A preview shows what arrives before anything is saved.
